Gordon Sterling and the People

In the heart of the nation's capital, Gordon Sterling and The People, a Soul/Funk, Blues/Rock ensemble, have carved a prominent presence, regularly captivating audiences to sold-out performances. Central to their music is Gordon's effervescent energy, soulful voice, and deeply introspective lyrics based on his lived experiences. The band is, also, a vessel for Gordon to craft waves of awareness around the experiences and perspectives of being Black in America. From a visionary dream at the age of 15, Jamaican American Gordon Sterling received a call to awaken humanity to aspects of themselves forgotten, through the power of music. Embracing this mission wholeheartedly, Gordon embarked on a musical voyage that has spanned over 25 years, establishing his prowess as a revered singer, songwriter, and guitarist. If you like artists such as Gary Clark Junior, Michael Kiwanuka, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Lettuce, and Galactic, then you don’t want to miss Gordon Sterling and The People! Gordon has shared stages with heavyweights such as Warren Haynes, Karl Denson, Derek Trucks Band, Blues Traveler, The Wailers, and Soulive just to name a few. Gordon Sterling and The People are set to hit the road in support of their greatly anticipated second full length album called "One Crow Shy of a Murder", which is slated for release on July, 25th.

Craft & A Coffee- Ceramic House Plaques Workshop

Join us for a relaxed, creative morning of clay, carving and coffee.

In this session, you’ll create your own bespoke ceramic house number (or name!) plaque using the hand-carving technique of sgraffito. Each participant receives a freshly brewed coffee or herbal tea of your choice.

Fiona — a qualified art teacher with degrees in Design and Ceramics — will guide you step by step through the process. Go freehand, use motif and letter stencils, choose whimsical or geometric, round, rectangular, square — or anything in between.

Not feeling a number? Create your house name, family name, or even something functional like “Please Close the Gate.”

You’ll work with a beautiful bohemian speckled clay body finished with a resilient matte black underglaze. Each plaque is high fired, frost resistant, durable and made to last — complete with screw holes and fixings.

Your finished plaque will be ready for collection two weeks later.

Ticket & Pricing Information

All tickets are priced per person.

Each ticket includes:
• One reserved seat
• One dedicated workspace
• Materials and underglaze
• Firing
• Hardware for installation
• One coffee or herbal tea

1 Plaque Ticket – $75
Create one ceramic plaque.

2 Plaque Ticket – $105 (best value)
Create two ceramic plaques during the session.

Tickets are not transferable or shareable between participants.
Each person attending must purchase their own ticket — even if attending together.

One ticket = one person = one workspace.

Due to limited seating and material preparation, additional attendees may not participate without a ticket.

Craft & A Cocktail - Ceramic Scooper & Spoons Workshop

Join Fiona for a relaxed and creative evening making beautiful, functional ceramic kitchen tools that you’ll use for years to come.

In this hands-on Craft & A Cocktail workshop you will make one large ceramic scooper (about 9" once fired) and two ceramic spoons (about 5").

The scooper is both practical and sculptural — perfect for scooping flour, sugar, coffee, grains, bath salts, dog treats, bird seed, or pantry staples. When not in use it can be hung in the kitchen or pantry as a functional piece of art.

For the spoons, you’ll have two design options:
• Round spoon with a loop handle for hanging
• Classic paddle-style spoon

You can choose to make two of the same style or one of each.

During the workshop Fiona will guide you through simple hand-building ceramic techniques, including slab building and pinch pot methods, showing you how to shape, refine, and join the clay to create strong, functional pieces.

At the end of the class you’ll choose from Fiona’s studio glaze palette, and she will expertly glaze and fire your pieces for you.

What is Craft & A Cocktail?

Craft & A Cocktail workshops are relaxed creative evenings at Dharma Bums where art, craft, and community come together. Your ticket includes a cocktail, wine, beer, or mocktail to enjoy while you create. No experience is needed — just come ready to make something beautiful.

Your finished pieces will be ready for pickup in about 2–3 weeks once they’ve been dried, fired, glazed, and fired again.

Craft & A Cocktail- Ceramic Jar & Spoon Workshop

Got it—here’s a clean, polished version with those details worked in:

By popular demand, we’re bringing this workshop back!

Join us for a Craft & A Cocktail workshop where you’ll create your own ceramic jar with a perfectly fitted spoon—ideal for salt, sugar, spices, coffee, or whatever your kitchen (or bar) calls for.

Each piece becomes a little ritual object—something you’ll reach for daily, but also admire like a mini sculpture.

No experience needed. We’ll guide you through simple handbuilding techniques. You’ll work from templates to shape your piece and have the option to add surface pattern and decoration for a more personal finish.

You’ll choose your glaze color and finish from a handpicked selection of Fiona’s studio glazes, and we’ll fire and finish everything for you.

Your piece will be high-fired for strength and durability and measures approximately 5.5" wide x 8" high.

Your ticket includes a cocktail, wine, beer, or mocktail to enjoy while you craft—because everything’s better with a drink in hand.

Your finished piece will be ready for pickup at the bar 2–3 weeks after the workshop.

Spots are limited—grab yours via the link.

Loose Panic, Those Looks, The Successful Failures

Successful Failures
The NJ indie-rock/roots band, The Successful Failures, have released 11 albums full of songs about vikings, armadillos, costume parties, pimps, presidents, murder, love, and longing.  In 2025, TSF celebrated their 20 year anniversary with the release of an EP featuring songs they recorded in Memphis, TN at legendary Sun Studio. The band—featuring Ron Bechamps (bass/mandolin), Mick Chorba (vocals/guitar, Rob Martin (drums), and Pete Smith (electric guitar/bass guitar)—has shared the stage with Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Emmylou Harris, Jeff Tweedy, Deer Tick, Dr. Dog, and many more.  https://thesuccessfulfailures.com/

Those Looks
Those Looks is an indie rock four-piece from Lambertville, New Jersey, known for their velvet wave style of dreamy, apocalyptic pop. Combining retro rock sounds, from surf to jangle, with classic pop melodies and hints of cosmic country and psychedelic folk, their music is the perfect soundtrack for the last summer on earth. The band includes Kelly Bolding on lead vocals and guitar, Sylvia Barrantes on lead guitar, Randall Newman on bass, and Shaun Ellis on drums, all of whom contribute to the lush vocal harmonies that are a throughline across the band’s songs. Previous releases include “Cherry” (2025), Passing Through (EP, 2025), and Cults Near Me (LP, 2022) on Mint 400 Records; “Laundry and Taxes” (2023) on Weathervane Music; and Come Unto Me (self-released EP, 2019). Those Looks play regularly across the New Jersey, Bucks County, and Philadelphia areas. They are currently writing and recording their second full-length album.

Loose Panic
Loose Panic is a Mercer-Bucks based indie rock group consisting of Jarret Crawford (vocals, guitar), Anthony Carlisi (bass), Liam Hare (drums), and Max Blauer (guitar). Loose Panic blends song-writing sensibilities inspired by folk and Americana with sonicscapes drawing from 90s and 2000s indie and alternative rock to create guitar-driven songs that alternately inspire both head-nodding and head-swaying. Woven into their songs are the complementary and opposing lyrical themes of loathing, loss, love, isolation, fury, and hope that permeate the ordinary and extraordinary state of 21st century existence. They released their debut EP, In Hindsight, in 2023, and their debut LP, Weightbearing, will be released in June 2026. The first single, The Cruelty is the Point, is available now on all streaming platforms. Check out www.loosepanic.com for information on the band and to join the mailing list.

Club d'Elf ft. Eli Winderman

Club d'Elf - Loon and Thrush Album Release ft. Eli Winderman (Dopapod) & More!

To the naked eye, Club d’Elf appears to be a world-class instrumental ensemble: a rotating cast of fierce improvisers navigating deep grooves, trance-drenched vamps and sprawling textures. But to its dedicated following and the large constellation of musicians who cycle through its orbit, the band is something more like a musical organism — a ritualistic, ever-evolving experiment in trance, collective improvisation and timelessness. Their new album, Loon and Thrush (due out 4/10/26), captures this identity in its purest form yet, recorded entirely live in the studio and driven by the ecstatic, Moroccan-influenced approach that has become the band’s signature. No two shows are alike. Songs mutate, lineups shift, the ground moves beneath the listener, and a shared language emerges in real time.

The band began in 1998 with a residency at Cambridge’s Lizard Lounge, sparked by bassist/composer Mike Rivard’s desire to create a project that wasn’t driven by a frontman or fixed lineup, but by collective spontaneity and the pursuit of ecstatic musical states. Encouraged by the late Mark Sandman of Morphine, Rivard assembled a rotating family of musicians — from the jazz, electronic, world, DJ and avant-garde scenes — who could fuse groove and improvisation into a kind of cinematic sound world. Over the decades, Club d’Elf has toured internationally, developed a fervent cult following and recorded albums that weave dub, electronica, jazz, Gnawa, hip hop, prog and ritual trance into a singular sound.
THE MOROCCAN CONNECTION: THE HEART OF THE BAND

A major turning point came when Casablanca-born Brahim Fribgane joined the collective in 1999. Through his oud playing, vocals, percussion and deep knowledge of Moroccan trance traditions, Fribgane introduced Rivard to Gnawa — a centuries-old spiritual music rooted in repetition, ritual and ecstatic groove. Under Fribgane’s guidance, Rivard began studying the sintir and later worked with Gnawa masters Hassan Hakmoun and Mahmoud Guinia, absorbing the rhythmic cycles and phrasing of the tradition. Over time, Moroccan trance became not just an influence but the foundational pillar of the Club d’Elf aesthetic.

Richard

Richard is not just another jam band — they’re a full-spectrum live experience.

Blending tight, thoughtfully crafted songwriting with fearless improvisation, Richard has carved out their own lane in what they call “psychedelic jam fusion.” Their sound fuses deep-pocket funk grooves, exploratory psychedelia, soaring melodic hooks, and dynamic peaks that keep audiences locked in from the first downbeat to the final encore. Think dance-floor energy meets cosmic exploration — structured enough to hook new listeners, adventurous enough to keep seasoned jam fans coming back.

What truly sets Richard apart is their commitment to the moment. Every show is a living, breathing experience. Extended improvisational passages stretch songs into uncharted territory, creating spontaneous musical conversations that feel both intentional and electrifying. No two performances are ever the same — a major draw for repeat attendees and jam-scene loyalists alike.

The band has built a strong and steadily growing presence in the Lehigh Valley and Philadelphia areas, consistently drawing engaged crowds and cultivating a reputation for high-energy performances and professional execution. Recent highlights include sharing the stage with nationally touring acts like Dopapod and performances at Pine Ridge Festival, Karnival of the Arts, and Fourth on the Farm — clear indicators of their ability to complement established bills while elevating the overall event.

From intimate club stages to outdoor festivals, Richard understands how to read a room and deliver exactly what it needs — whether that’s a tight, dance-driven set to keep the bar moving or a deep, exploratory late-night journey that leaves audiences buzzing long after the lights come up.

Eugene Gardner (vocals/guitar/mandolin/tenor guitar), Danny Tyler (banjo/guitar) and Marc Jaffee (upright bass/vocals) all grew up within a few miles of each other in New York’s Hudson Valley, where they are currently based.

Flux Capacitor

Melding energetic, spacy improvisation with electronica and melodic rock songwriting, Pennsylvania's Flux Capacitor spent the early 2010s building a grassroots fan base through constant touring and a series of vibrant studio albums including their 2011 Jack Endino-produced sophomore outing, Monolith. A staple of the jam band circuit, Flux Capacitor pull from a wide range from tonal influences, from Phish and Bob Marley to more sonically cerebral acts like Pink Floyd and Radiohead

Formed in West Reading, Pennsylvania in 2007 by brothers Peter (vocals, guitar), Michael (keys), and Jason Specht (drums), Flux Capacitor cut their teeth regionally, issuing their debut, They Know We Know, before hitting the road nationally. With their profile raised, the trio headed to Seattle to record their hard-hitting follow-up album, Monolith, with producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden). Following the album's 2011 release, the brothers widened their touring base, playing across the U.S. and Canada as well as in the U.K., sharing stages with a variety of acts like Rusted Root, Ozomatli, Lukas Nelson, and Railroad Earth. A third studio album, Cycle 9, appeared in 2013, followed by a pair of singles, "Dome" and "Radio," in 2015. Documenting their epic live shows, Flux Capacitor released their first concert recording, Live Spirals, Vol. 1, in 2017. ~ Timothy Monger

Flux released Set to Gravitate in 2018 and the band has grown to a four piece with the addition of Stephen Kurtz on bass. The band is entering the studio for their 5th studio album in 2024.

SPAGA ft. Aron Magner of The Disco Biscuits

SPAGA is something entirely new and different from the Disco Biscuits’ Aron Magner.

Aron Magner:

The Philadelphia-based musician is best known as the keyboardist and founding member of The Disco Biscuits. Magner and The Disco Biscuits have been instrumental in bringing live and studio improvisational, electronic-based music to the forefront of the live music scene and, increasingly, to popular culture. Magner’s journey started with classical piano, but his interest was re-invigorated at age 13 when he discovered jazz. He then sidelined his piano studies as he explored improvisational jam rock with the Biscuits, but always maintained an affection for the genre. He is now going back to his roots, organically fusing jazz with his unique style.

Jason Fraticelli:

As an upright bassist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, Jason Fraticelli is seen and heard often at the center of many musical scenes in the Philadelphia/New York communities. For the past 20 years he has been acting as sideman for many different artists such as Matisyahu, Melody Gardot, and Cyro Baptista, while at the same time always fascilitating his own groups such as the Fresh Cut Orchestra, The FCC, and The Jason Fraticelli Band. Within an ensuing career, Jason has toured in groups such as Matisyahu, Melody Gardot, and Cyro Baptista’s Banquet of the Spirits.  He has recorded with many different artists such as G Love, Robert Glasper, Mark Guiliana, and Taylor McFerrin.

In 2013 Jason was awarded a project grant from the Pew foundation for the purpose of recording his extended work the Mothers’ Suite, a six movement piece to be recorded by his 10 piece co-lead group the Fresh Cut Orchestra. This work came out in 2015 on Fresh Cut Orchestra’s debut record ‘From the Vine’ which was released on Ropeadope records with acclaimed reviews from the New York Times, Downbeat, and NPR’s All Things Considered. In 2014 Fresh Cut Orchestra went on to receive the Kimmel Center Jazz Residency Grant which led to the collaborative work entitled ‘Life Mosaic’, a 4 movement piece written about the four stages of life to be recorded and released in the near future. Later that same year a Subito grant was awarded to Fresh Cut Orchestra in order to finish studio production on their second record ‘Mind Behind Closed Eyes’ which was released by Ropeadope records in 2016. Fresh Cut Orchestra has been receiving rave reviews while performing at renown performing arts center venues such as the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts, and the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, DC.

Matt Scarano:

Matt Scarano is a drummer, composer, and educator living in Philadelphia, PA. Over the years he has established himself as one of the Philadelphia region’s most sought after drummers for both live and studio performance in a wide variety of styles. Matt has performed throughout the world, sharing the stage with numerous world-class musicians and artists including Chris Brubeck, Time For Three, Ben Schachter, Matisyahu, Dick Oatts, John Swana, Larry McKenna, and Dave Allen. He has performed at many prestigious venues across the world including performances as guest artist with The Boston Pops at Carnegie Hall and the BBC Concert Orchestra at Royal Albert Hall. He is currently performing and touring with numerous groups including Time for Three, Son Step, and his own original ensemble. Matt attended Temple University where he received a B.M. and M.M. in Jazz Performance. He is an active private teacher and clinician and is on faculty at University of The Arts, Camden County College, The Boysie Lowery Living Jazz Residency and the Education Committee of Philly Drum Project.

Muscle Tough & Nik Greeley And The Operators

Muscle Tough, Philadelphia’s premier Futuristic Funk Fusion trio, specializes in a heavily improvised blend of modal jazz, funk, and rocking psychedelia.

Their creative use of sound design and group-minded improvisation blurs the line between their originals and the quirky pop classics they stretch out on.

"Too Busy 4 Jail" (2025) is a testament to what happens when you combine road-hardened material with hi-fi studio magic. Mixed by Grammy-winning engineer John Davis at The Bunker Studio, Muscle Tough's kaleidoscopic approach has never sounded better, from in-your-face funk fusion to Pink Floyd-dosed jazz to straight-up polyrhythmic tech-metal.

"Goes to Hell" is a love letter to the band's improvisational chemistry. This live album is entirely improvised from start to finish, without edits – a myriad of nightmarish bliss, transcendental moods & true compositional telepathy on display.

With a revolving door of guests including members of Phish, MMW, Dopapod, Lotus, Snarky Puppy, and DJ Logic, along with a reputation for their sprawling late-night sets, Muscle Tough invites audiences around the world to GET TOUGH!
